Matthew Casey

Matthew Casey is Assistant Professor and Nina Bell Suggs Professor of History at the University of Southern Mississippi. He has published numerous articles and book chapters on early twentieth century Haiti and Cuba. He is the author of Empire’s Guest Workers: Haitian Migrants in Cuba during the Age of US Occupation (Cambridge University Press, 2017). He is currently working on a book that uses the life of political activist Joseph Jolibois to raise new questions about the first US military occupation of Haiti.
