María José Gutiérrez

María José Gutiérrez is a PhD candidate and Teaching Fellow in the Hispanic Studies doctoral program in the Department of Modern Language and Literatures at Catholic University of America. Currently, she is working on her dissertation entitled “Global Utopias and Individual Nightmares: Experiences of Migration, Inequality and Solidarity in Latin American Science Fiction.” Her research focusses on science fiction as a mode that rearticulates its meanings to give visibility to marginal individuals and their experiences of globalization in Latin American and US Latino narratives and films.
